Review: The Boy I Hate by Taylor Sullivan

Blurb:

Samantha Smiles and Renee Montgomery have been best friends for over a decade. They’ve shared laughs, secrets, and a mutual hatred for one person: Tristan Montgomery, Renee’s older brother. He was the guy every girl wanted, and every guy wanted to be, and it wasn’t uncommon they’d befriend his little sister just to get closer to him. Which was exactly how Samantha became Renee’s saving grace. She was the only girl Renee could trust not to fall in love with her older brother.

Until the one night Samantha spent with him alone, leaving her questioning everything she’d ever known about the blond headed heart-throb.

Years later, Renee asks Samantha to be her maid of honor. With no other option, Samantha is forced to drive cross-country with the focus of their teenage ire.

He was her first kiss.

Her only secret.

Can Samantha survive the trip cross-country with the reckless Tristan Montgomery? The guy who did what he wanted, whenever he wanted, without worry for tomorrow? Or will she discover a different side of him. One that’s sweet, funny, and maybe a little bit vulnerable. And fall completely and helplessly in love for the first time in her adult life with the one man who could cause her to lose her best friend forever?

Review:

***I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.***

I have been in a mood where all I want to read is paranormal romance books about wolves so I wasn’t sure how into this book I was going to get. However, I was surprised! This book took me out of my paranormal mood. This book was great! It was a quick read with a good story line. I absolutely love the secret of Samantha and Tristan.

Samantha … She has been with the same guy from highschool for 6 years! That is 6 long years when you can tell right from the beginning that she is not in love with him. She loves him, but not in an “I want to Marry you” sort if way. She is content with being with him because he wont hurt her and he will have a good job in the future. However, that is until she has to travel across the country with her best friends sexy brother Tristan. She feels things for him that she shouldn’t and it makes her realize more and more how much she doesn’t want to be with her boyfriend.

Tristan … OMG… he just might be my current book boyfriend! He is buff and sexy, but has a stand-off vibe because he needs to do everything for everyone. Tristan does not like to show anyone the real him so that he can protect himself from getting hurt. He was always the guy all the girls wanted something from, but none of them ever really wanted to love him. They might have loved his body, or his sex, but not him or his personality. This is what he was used to so when Samantha tries to get closer, he shuts her out multiple times.

Overall, this book was a great read. I would recommend you read this book and is perfect if you are looking for a secret romance read.
