For eighteen-year-old Becca Torrence, the chance to finish high school in a new town, where no one knows her or the secrets of that night, should be a dream come true. But when the first day of school rolls around, something is wrong.
Instead of being greeted with warm smiles and reassuring hellos, Becca finds herself on the receiving end of icy stares and cruel whispers. Putting it down to her status as an outsider, she holds her head high, because they can’t know.
Determined to make her new life in Credence work, Becca is willing to do whatever it takes to fit in. Even if it means losing herself in the process.
A white lie can save you … Too many lies will break you.
*** I received an ARC copy in exchange for a review ***
This is my new favorite book series! I was instantly hooked after the first couple of pages. I decided to start this book on my train ride into NYC for work. It is a 2 hour ride and this was the perfect read. I didn’t want to stop reading the book when the train pulled up to the station.
Becca has a bad past, but you really don’t know much more than that. Throughout the book, there are bits and pieces that get released, but the entire time I was trying to figure out what Becca’s secret is! I wanted to know why she is lying to her “new friends”. I mean I guess that makes some sense because you wouldn’t open up immediately, but she would always give vague answers about her past. This book keeps you guessing as to what happened to Becca. It must have been something bad to make her always want to forget…
During Becca’s first day at her new school she meets the mysteriously hot Evan. There is this pull between the two of them that neither can deny. They are so hot then cold throughout the book, but end up not being able to stay away from each other. This is another one of Becca’s secrets ….
In the end, Becca finds out she can’t trust anyone. Her enemies are evil, her acquaintances gossip and spread rumors, and her friends and family are liars….
Warning: This book is a cliff hanger! It makes me want to read the next book in the Liar Liar series. Too bad I have to wait until Spring 2017!
